Dog A.I.D. are wanting to recruit 50 new volunteer dog trainers throughout the UK within the next year and we are running a volunteer recruitment event near you!
Dog A.I.D. based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, is 1 of 10 recognised Assistance Dog charities in the UK, that are members of Assistance Dogs UK and have been accredited by Assistance Dog International. The charity assists physically disabled people, to improve their quality of life and independence by training their own pet dog to become a qualified Assistance Dog.

We are a charity with big aims and strong values and are seeking trainers with a history of practical reward-based dog training.
A small amount of your time can mean the world

What we are looking for in a trainer:

  • Experienced dog trainers, ideally accredited to a recognised body
  • Commitment to reward-based training
  • Ability to think outside the box and adapt techniques to meet individual needs of our clients
  • Empathetic and understanding
Our volunteer dog trainers are paired with a client near them and the client is coached to train their dog using modern, safe, reward based methods of training. Training can take between 1-2 years and once completed, their dog becomes a qualified Assistance Dog!

What our volunteers say:

“I love volunteering at Dog A.I.D. as I find it such a rewarding experience – I feel like I have really made a difference!”
“I signed up to become a volunteer as I simply love working with dogs, but I have learnt so many new skills and learnt how to adapt my training methods to work with people with disabilities”.

“It has been amazing working with my client this year. I can see how much her life has changed, it’s amazing!”

What we offer our trainers:
