What are our tubs made from?
Our tubs are made from rPET (recycled polyethylene terephtalate), made from approximately 80% recycled material (bottle cut) and 20% new material. rPET comes from plastic that has already been used for packaging, such as plastic bottles. This plastic is sorted, cleaned and transformed which makes it even more environmentally friendly than the material used for our previous tubs.
As our tubs are made from recycled bottles which saves yards and yards of landfill? The tubs are accepted by the majority of recycling plants.
These are as environmentally friendly as possible and after use the rPET plastic is 100% recyclable.
The tubs are also BPA free. BPA stands for Bisphenol A, this is an industrial chemical that is used to make certain plastics. Research has shown that the use of BPA in plastic food containers can in some cases cause the BPA to seep into the food/beverage, causing increased health concerns.
Why do we use polystyrene boxes for shipping our products?
To keep the food frozen! Our expanded polystyrene (EPS) boxes keep the food frozen during transit.
The boxes do not contain CFC or HCHC gases that are harmful to the ozone layer.
Please check with your local authority to see if they are able to recycle the boxes.
Are the outer cardboard box and the sleeves recyclable?
Our cardboard boxes are made from recycled materials and can be easily recycled or reused and so can the sleeves.
The printing company we use for our cardboard sleeves are one of only a handful of Carbon Balanced Publication Printers in the Country. A Carbon Balanced Publication Printer is one of the highest statements of environmental integrity and credibility. It confirms that the carbon impacts of the production of a printed item has been calculated and balanced (offset). The printing company support and work with the World Land Trust Carbon Balance programme. Following an ongoing carbon reduction strategy, our unavoidable green house gas emissions are offset with the World Land Trust through the protection and restoration of carbon-rich wildlife habitats. We are proud to be able to have the Woodland Trust logo displayed on our packaging.
Are you reviewing packaging alternatives?
Not only are we passionate about pets we are passionate about our planet too!
We are constantly reviewing our packaging to ensure we use products that are environmentally friendly as well as being efficient.
We always encourage our customers to recycle and reuse our packaging where possible. We receive great feedback from customers who use the polyboxes to grow tomatoes and the tubs to store pencils. We even had one stockist make an igloo for a Christmas display from the polyboxes!
We love to see our customer's creativity reusing our packaging – email your photos to firstname.lastname@example.org
