Why good gut health means fewer allergies for your dog

I know that a healthy diet makes for a healthy dog; better energy, no weight issues, less inflammation, none of that doggie pong or room clearing wind. I also know that a healthy diet can take the itch right out of a dog’s life but I was concentrating more on the food than the gut.

Animal welfare organisations including Dogs Trust, the Kennel Club and the RSPCA all suggest a minimum of 30 minutes for small breeds and up to two hours for larger dogs per day. Owners admit to squeezing a dog walk into the school run, or for a quick loop around the block after work, before cuddling up on the sofa. To curb our sedentary lifestyles, we’re being encouraged to get outside and exercise. Back in the day before the trend for dog walkers and crèches, you walked your own dog.
